JUNIORS: Check out this opportunity to apply to become a Horatio Alger Scholar. The Association awards 105 National Scholarships at $25,000 each, and more than 500 State Scholarships at $10,000 each. Fountain Lake Sr. Girls Basketball traveled to Berryville AR and participated in the Berryville High School Holiday Tournament, December 28-December 30, 2022. The Girls played well in the tournament defeating the Fordyce Lady Red bugs, 47-45, defeated the Crane Lady Pirates 44-43 in route to the finals where they were eventually defeated by Heber Springs for a runner-up finish in the tournament. Overall it was a great experience for the girls and we are proud of their efforts.

Buzz Wilson Scholarship The Arkansas Spa Pacers Running Club of Hot Springs is accepting applications for the Buzz Wilson Scholarship. Mr. Wilson was an active member of the Spa Pacers for many years who provided encouragement to all runners and organized many running events in Hot Springs. Scholarships are awarded each year to high school seniors planning to attend college in the fall, involved in the sport of running and/or walking for fitness, and exemplify the principles identified in the Spa Pacer’s mission statement. Scholarship funds are awarded from proceeds from the Spa Running Festival. Applications should be submitted to the Arkansas Spa Pacers Running Club and postmarked no later than February 1, 2023. Applications can be submitted online or a paper version completed and mailed to PO Box 1199, Hot Springs, AR 71902. This Friday, January 6 is the DEADLINE to register for the ACT® test on February 11 to save their seat at their preferred test center. Be sure to search by the zipcode to select Fountain Lake as your testing center. REGISTER NOW! JRs and SRs who qualify for Free or Reduced Lunches can get 4 fee waivers. For the safety of students, staff, and families, Fountain Lake will begin dismissing students at 12:30PM today, Thursday, December 22,2022. Buses will leave the campus at 1:00PM. Merry Christmas to you all.

FACES Reminder: This is a reminder to all parents with students participating in our FACES after school program. There is no FACES after school today (Thursday, Dec. 22nd). FACES will resume on Monday, January 9th. Merry Christmas!

Did you loose something? For the second week in a row we have laid out all of the middle school lost and found for the students to go through (nine tables of items mostly coats and jackets). Praying you all have a blessed holiday, and Merry Christmas!

The Our Promise Cancer Resources Young Men of Distinction program honors outstanding young men in the community and educates them on cancer treatment with an emphasis on fundraising and volunteerism. Our very own Caleb Herring earned nearly 40 volunteer hours from the Spring to Fall of 2022. This year he was honored with, “The Character Award” and a scholarship in the amount of $500. Garland County rising sophomores, juniors and seniors are asked to apply and encouraged to participate for three years. If you are interested in becoming a member see Mrs. Keys for an application. The deadline for entry is 5pm on February 24, 2023. ALL applicants may be subject to an interview. There is a $100.00 Patronage Fee associated with this program.

Fountain Lake Middle School Advisory classes held their annual Christmas door decorating contest this past week. The winners receive a free pass to the Movies, and the runners up receive an ice cream sundae party!!

Reminder that the Fountain Lake School District will be enjoying Christmas Break from Friday, December 23, 2022 until Sunday, January 8, 2023. Staff and Students will return on Monday, January 9, 2023. School will dismiss at 2:15PM on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. There will be No School on Monday, January 16, 2023 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

Baseball Registration for kids ages 5-15 will begin January 10,2023 at Majestic Park in Hot Springs. Registration will close on Friday February 12th. Fountain Lake had over 40 youth baseball players in the league last year. This is a great venue and a great opportunity to introduce your kids to the sport of baseball.
