The Lake Hamilton School District is working in conjunction with the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce and the Dawson Education Cooperative to host “Draft Day 2023.” Draft Day will be both a Career Exploration and Hiring Event (emphasis on hiring) for workforce bound seniors and juniors that are exploring career opportunities. This event will take place April 25-26, 2023 from 8:30am - 3:00pm each day. Note: this event is taking the place of the Junior Career Fair that is typically held at the Hot Springs Convention center and hosted by the Greater Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce.
We want our students to be a part of this opportunity. We know that we have many students that will go straight into the workforce or have to work while attending college or trade school. We would love to see our students commit to careers within local business and industry and begin using the technical skills they have learned throughout high school.
50-75 businesses from the Hot Springs and surrounding areas will set up at the event and will be hiring. Students that are looking for career opportunities will be able to bring resumes and interview on the spot for available positions within many companies. This event will give you the opportunity to begin important career conversations with your Juniors and Seniors as you prepare them to attend. Professional dress, interview skills, resume and cover letter writing are just a few of the topics that we suggest reviewing prior to the event.
Fountain Lake JRs and SRs will need to complete the google form at https://forms.gle/mRvvNpsFLaHBWkwr9 by 10:30 February 6th if they want to attend. There is no limit to the number of students that can attend but they must sign up to participate.
After completing the Google Form (from their flstudent account), students will receive further information regarding our scheduled day/time frame, businesses that will be in attendance, job opportunities available, etc.
We view this as a great opportunity for our students and ask you to help us encourage all JRs and SRs to attend this event.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
